, Battery Maker Announces Start Date for $3.2B Tennessee Plant – Robert Khodadadian, Robert Khodadadian

 

South Korea-based LG Chem is holding a groundbreaking ceremony December 19th on its $3.2 billion battery plant in Montgomery County, Tennessee. It’s the biggest corporate investment in the state’s history. The 420-acre plant will easily serve the four automakers who have set up shop for electric cars in the state.

LG Chem has pledged 860 jobs in exchange for a $40 million grant from the state and a 20-year tax break from Montgomery County. Starting wages will be $24 an hour, and 200 of the company’s jobs will pay at least $100,000 annually.

JE Dunn Construction Co. will build the factory.
