EAH Housing Opens Second Phase of Modesto Affordable – Robert Khodadadian

Nonprofit developer/manager EAH Housing joined Mayor Sue Zwahlen and State Treasurer Fiona Ma to celebrate the grand opening of Archway Commons II, the second and final phase of the previously constructed affordable housing community Archway Commons in Modesto. Archway Commons II will provide 74 units of affordable housing, family-friendly indoor and outdoor amenities and supportive services.

Located at 1101 Carver Rd. and constructed on former industrial grounds, Archway Commons II features nine, two-story buildings comprising a single one-bedroom apartment, 52 two-bedroom apartments, and 20 three-bedroom apartments for residents earning 30% to 60% of the area median income. The additional 74 residences bring the total unit count of the community to 150.

“In the face of California’s shortage of housing at all income levels, communities like Archway Commons play a vital role in creating positive ripples throughout our state,” said Gustavo Velasquez, director of the California Department of Housing & Community Development. “As we grapple with the magnitude of this housing affordability crisis, addressing the housing needs in smaller communities becomes paramount. Archway Commons illustrates how thoughtful and community-focused projects can make a substantial impact in bridging the affordable housing gap statewide.”
